Bob
Hammond was always keeping tabs on new inovations happening in the boat
market.
He
made numerous trips to California and Florida which were the hotspots at
the time for new ideas in boating design and construction. While on one
of these trips he noticed the outstanding design and workmanship of a small
boat company in Garden Grove California named Carlson High Performance
Boats. (See info. on pre-Glastron Carlsons below). In 1969, after
becoming aquainted with the owner who was also the designer, Mr. Hammond
offered to make this man head of a new entity which would manufacture a
new line of upscale, high quality boats as well as manufacture the Molinari
raceboats. The man was Art Carlson and the company was to be named Glastron-Carlson.
Thus history began and a new line of Glastron boats was born. A line of
boats which are now legendary.
The partnership of
Art Carlson and Glastron began in early 1969
and the first models
appeared for the 1969 model year.
