Glastron
Motorhomes
In 1967 Bob Hammond
and Hugh Halff set out to bring a motorhome into the Glastron lineup, which
already included snowmobiles and houseboats. Attempts to aquire an existing
company were unsuccessful and the decision was made to develop one within
Glastron. Design and prototyping began and facilities were leased in Austin
for production. Larry Hufford, one of Glastron's first production managers
took over as general manager. At the December National Recreational Vehicle
Show the Glastron 21ft. fiberglass coach was introduced. It turned out
to be popular with the public. They loved its advanced styling and the
all fiberglass body. Orders for over $1 million were quickly written. I'm
uncertain how long production continued, however I do know they were produced
in 1970 as the following catalog shows. Anyone's input is certainly welcome
and would help the site and its visitors greatly.
